Oak Park, CronullaHello!

Welcome to my first proper new blog post on my new-look website.

I thought it would be nice to share a couple of photos I took recently at my local beach near Cronulla.

I tend to go through phases of shooting a lot, then not shooting at all. I’ve decided not to fight it or feel guilty when I don’t feel like shooting, and to not get too over-excited when I am in the mood and shooting a lot. I think if I try to keep on an even keel emotionally with my photography, then it’s a much smoother ride.

When we first got our dog Archer a couple of years ago, I was worried that it would limit our ability to get up early and head out for a sunrise shoot, leaving him home alone in the middle of the night.

But it turns out that taking him with us is the best thing ever! He loves the beach no matter what time of day it is, and Sonia and I get to capture some beautiful shots of him in our favourite environments.

Here’s one I took kinda by accident. I was happily shooting away, trying to time the shutter with the incoming waves. Then Archer came bounding along the beach to see me (he’d been off playing with Sonia, getting rewards for posing for her photos). He stood still just long enough to stay sharp in this long-ish exposure.

Anyway, this is just a quick blog post to get back into the swing of things.

Talk soon!
